Allison Cara Tolman (born April 2nd, 1985) is an American actor. Best known as Molly Solverson from the FX television series Fargo in its first season. Tolman has won nominations for Emmys and Golden Globes. Education and early life Tolman is the oldest of two siblings and a younger sibling. Early in her life, the family of Tolman moved to England. The family remained in England until she reached age four. After that, she spent 5 years in Oklahoma before moving to Sugar Land. The Fort Bend Community Theatre, she started taking acting classes at age 10. Clements High School is where she went to school and was able to graduate in 2000. Baylor University gave her a degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts, Theatre Performance. In Dallas following her graduation from college, she became one of the original founders of Second Thought Theatre. After that, she relocated from Dallas to Chicago in 2009, where she attended The Second City Training Center for a course in acting. Tolman became famous in 2014, when Tolman was a part of FX's Fargo. Fargo is a remake of 1996 Coen brother's film by the same name. Starring veteran actors Bob Odenkirk, Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton. Tolman was praised for her portrayal of Minnesota police officer Molly Solverson, with Vanity Fair writing that she "calmly and certainly stole the entire show". Tolman won the Critics' Choice Television Award in the category of Best Supporting Actress, movies/ministries. Also to that, her nominations for Best Actress were received at the Emmy Awards as well as the Golden Globes. In the same year it was revealed that Tolman will have a guest appearance on the Mindy project on the show as Abby Berman who is a romance writer. Tolman was a supporter in Michael Dougherty's movie about horror Krampus. Tolman declined several support roles, such as those played by mothers, wifes and girlfriends, after her first appearance in Fargo. Tolman wanted a different character. Tolman had a role on ABC as a character in Downward Dog (based on Animal Media Group's web-based series). The series was cancelled after a single season. Tolman was a part of the ABC drama Emergence. The show premiered on September 24, 2019, and ended with one episode in May 2021. Despite the fact that Tolman tweeted it was a success with "pretty good" ratings.
